Some other great advantages to using a bait casting reel are, they are diverse and work better with heavier line. They have more power and control when you are fighting heavier saltwater game fish. A couple of disadvantages to fishing with a bait casting reel is they are more expensive than other types of fishing reels, and they are difficult to learn how to use.
When it comes to fly fishing reels, you need to know that they are only for retrieving and holding fishing line, they have nothing to do with casting. You just pull the fishing line off of the reel and then you are casting with the fishing rod using the weight of the fly and the line.
