Bridal shows can be completely OVERWHELMING for a bride. There are so many other brides, so many booths, everyone is trying to get from point to point and it can really get crazy. In this special edition of my ezine I'm going to give you some savvy tips and tricks for hitting the bridal fair with style and sass!!
Tip # 1: Wear comfy shoes! - You're going to be walking a mile on a hard tradeshow floor. Yes, it's lovely to look fashionable but the brides in stilettos never last long at the bridal fair. If you really want to see everything and be comfortable think about your feet first! (But be a little elegant and leave the stinky gym sneakers at home... opt for some cute supportive flats)
Pick The Right Time To Chat Up The Exhibitors - At a bridal fair, you can easily expect to vie for attention with more than a thousand brides. So how do you think you will get a chance to get some individual time with the exhibitors? Dont worry, with a little bit of planning, you can easily get that. The right time to get the attention of the exhibitors is when the fashion show is going on. So move over to the booth that catches your eye, get some ideas from the exhibitor and try on some gowns. And if you want to get your hands on one of those low-priced gowns, visit the bridal fair early in the morning.
Be Prepared for the Ballot Forms - Exhibitors at bridal fairs offer prizes and they will very politely request you to fill out their ballot form. You cant turn them down. But think about all the time you will be wasting filling out the same information again and again. So before you visit the bridal fair, print a few sheets of labels. Include your name, your grooms name, your address, your phone number, your email and your wedding date. When you reach the show, just peel off one label and stick it onto the ballots. Isnt that a great way to save some time?
Tip #4: Watch Out For Bridezilla! - I often see the dreaded bridezilla at the Bridal Fair. You know her... she's the girl that pushes your Mom aside so she can get a better look at the booth, she criticizes your wedding colors when she overhears you gushing about them, she muscles her way to the prize box while telling the exhibitor she doesn't want any information (just the prize!) and she complains loudly about how expensive everything is.... Oh yes... Bridezilla always makes an appearance at the Bridal Fair. But don't let this kind of bride ruin your good time! She has a bunch of BAD karma surrounding her so just IGNORE HER and have some fun!
Patience And Politeness Is A Great Virtue At The Bridal Fair - Learn something from the bridezilla! What do I mean by that? The bridezilla teaches you exactly how you should NOT behave at the bridal fair. Be nice to the exhibitors. Wait patiently for your turn. They might have some great deals for you. But if you are not patient, how will you know about them?
This kind of mentality will get you far with other exhibitors as well. I find myself giving extra nice brides FREE advice! I know other exhibitors do too!! (because we all want to work with nice brides)
Tip #6: Hydrate! " The Round Up Centre with over 1000 people in it at any given time can heat up pretty quick. And you can bet the water ain't cheap! So bring along some water for your journey. You don't want to get a headache!!
Be Confident While Making Your Choices - At the bridal fair, you will find lots of exhibitors, lots of brides and lots of confusion. But dont get overwhelmed with it. You dont have to make a choice right there. Here are some tips which can help you make the right choice:
Look For What You Want - If you know what you want, just look around at the bridal fair. As far as the rest is concerned, just have fun! All your vendors dont have to be picked right there. You might like some vendors and you may just not like the others. Get in touch with the ones you like and forget about the ones you dont.
One by One - Approach each vendor calmly, ready to hear the sales pitch (yes- the sales pitch). The exhibitors are there to sell to you. You're there to buy right? So if someone is overwhelming you just ask them politely to SLOW DOWN. You don't need the info dump! Ask the questions you want answered.
Walk Away Politely If Its Not Interesting - If the answers are not what you were looking for, just thank them and move on. Dont collect too many flyers that you know you are not going to use. Or else, when you get home you will just pick out the flyers of the vendors you liked and the others will just sit in some remote corner of the house for years. - 20785
